Prep boys soccer roundup: Clearfield, Roy earn shutout wins Friday

CLEARFIELD 4, BEAR RIVER 0

CLEARFIELD — Clearfield took a 1-0 lead at the break, then added three more scores in the second stanza to beat Bear River in the Northern Utah Spring Soccer Tournament.

Dallin Steiner scored twice for the Falcons. Chance Hamblin and Weston Anderson each scored once. Bryan Brandley and Ethan Strawn shared the shutout in goal.

ROY 2, BEN LOMOND 0

OGDEN — Roy scored a goal in each half to beat Ben Lomond in the second round of the Northern Utah Spring Soccer Tournament.

Cody Moore and Braulio Razo each scored for Roy while Riley Allred and Christian Montanez shared the shutout.

Ben Lomond hosts Clearfield Saturday in the tournament's final round while Roy tilts against Bear River at the Spence Eccles Ogden Community Sports Complex.

BOX ELDER 3, FREMONT 2

ST. GEORGE — Box Elder scored the lone second-half goal to break a 2-2 halftime tie as the Bees beat Fremont in St. George.

Rene Guadarrama and Porter Meyerhoffer scored goals for Fremont.

PLEASANT GROVE 0, FREMONT 0

HURRICANE — Fremont and Pleasant Grove played to a scoreless tie in a St. George Tournament game at Hurricane High School. Sam Batt and Brody Manore shared the shutout in goal for Fremont.

GRANGER 3, OGDEN 0

GRANGER — Ogden fell behind 2-0 at the half in its road loss at Granger.

BOUNTIFUL 1, KEARNS 1 (2OT)

KEARNS — Etienne Newton scored the equalizer for Bountiful in the 67th minute to forge a draw at Kearns.

MORGAN 7, EMERY 0

ST. GEORGE — Morgan led Emery 3-0 at the half and and went on to win its first game in the tournament at St. George.

Inigo Polo Lopez led the Trojans with two goals. Jaden Mellott, Jacob Firby, Carson Flitton and Spencer Hancock each scored once.

Trek Loveridge posted his second consecutive shutout.

LAYTON CHRISTIAN 2, HURRICANE 0

HURRICANE — Layton Christian scored once in each half to beat Hurricane. 

Thiago Padilha and Bartomeu Tortella each scored and Pello Bahon earned the shutout in goal for the Eagles.
